From May 21 to 24, 2025, UNLAD Ship Manning and Management Corp. visited the offices of our trusted partner, Taylors International Services, Inc., and the seafarers’ barracks in Lafayette, Louisiana. This wasn’t just another business trip—it was a meaningful opportunity to listen, connect, and honor the people who make our mission matter.
The UNLAD team was represented by Regina Jimenez, General Manager, along with legal counsels Atty. Manuel Obedoza and Atty. Andriline Obedoza, CPA. Their combined leadership and expertise ensured productive discussions with Taylors and meaningful engagement with our deployed seafarers.
Strengthening Partnership, Improving Operations
Our discussions with the Taylors team centered around practical strategies to strengthen operations and improve deployment processes. From communication protocols to support systems, we aligned on ways to serve our crew better, faster, and with more care. These collaborative sessions reflect our shared commitment to excellence and people-first service.
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Nick Mayon, who was not only an insightful collaborator but also a gracious host—bringing us on a memorable visit to the Tabasco Plant in Avery Island and introducing the team to his lovely family. The experience reminded us how cultural exchange and genuine hospitality build deeper, lasting partnerships.
Kamustahan at the Barracks
But the true highlight of our trip was the kamustahan with our Filipino seafarers staying at the Lafayette barracks.
Sitting down with them, hearing their stories, and checking in on their welfare reminded us why we do what we do. We expressed how proud we are of them not just for their work, but for the way they carry themselves with quiet dignity and strength. They are trailblazers for their families and the pride of our nation.
We also took the moment to remind ourselves how lucky we are—because their dedication opens doors for others, and because of them, we at UNLAD are inspired to serve better every day.
Moving Forward with Heart
As we continue our work back home, we carry with us the warmth and gratitude of this visit. It’s not just about refining systems or setting meetings—it’s about building trust, sharing purpose, and putting people first.
